Housewife

Now that I am home most of the day I finally have time to do some baking again. Last week I made a plum cake following a good old German recipe. It was great!! Except that the Canadian dish size and the German recipe weren't really compatible and I seriously had to clean the oven afterwards and the house smelled like more like burned cake. But that didn't alter the taste of it one bit. The cake was gone before I could take a picture :-)
So this week I was being smarter and choose a recipe using Canadian measures (cups rather than grams). And it didn't end up in oven cleaning! It was a bit more work with 4 different layers but the taste was worth it.

Last but not least - fall time is fruit time and with that schnaps time. Last month already I started some blackberry schnaps which should just be ready before we leave for down under. The blueberry schnaps I started on Tuesday will have to wait till we are back in December.
