Special Treat

Or what would you do on your birthday? It was a great sunny and warm day!
  1. Getting up late - well at 8am before the back gets to sore that sitting on the ball for a while won't fix it.
  2. Breakfast while sitting on the ball - Plum Birthday Muffins
  3. Play on the computer while sitting on the ball.
  4. Talk to friends and family in Germany while sitting on the floor.
  5. Repair my brakes - the disk brakes on my bike either rub and squeak or don't brake at all no matter how much I try. Since it is hilly here I opted for the squeaking - bit annoying to say the least.
  6. Go for a bike ride - to Burnaby Lake off course. I tried a new bike route to avoid some of the busier streets. It's a bit longer but also much nicer. But the bike route signs in Burnaby aren't as good as in Vancouver. And it doesn't cut out the initial hill either. Burnaby Lake is about the same high in elevation as we are here down on the Fraser I would think. So what a waste.
  7. Go for a K1 "paddle" - 15min warm up followed by 2 x (10 x 2' on 1') on 5' and ~10min cool down.
  8. Fix up some equipment in the boathouse.
  9. Bike back home. Back up the hill again too. I was tired by now - no Ironman for me.
  10. Feed the cats and wait for Jeff to come home.
  11. Skip the second paddle but do a core circuit instead: 3 sets of 7 exercises (such as sit ups, push ups, plank, etc) at 45" each on 4'R and long stretch afterwards.
  12. Ah - go for dinner - African food at Simbas. Our favorite place.
  13. End the day with schnapps and playing Wii at home.

Sounds like any other day but I had to check that I can still do all the things I could do yesterday when I was a year younger. Success - YEAH!!!
