Surrender of the Sofas

If you think cat stories are getting boring I apologize but they are a big part of my day. They are slowly but surely taking over the house - literally. At night when both cats are "awake" they have the tendency to take over the new sofa. Lucky for me, they prefer Jeff's site and not mine.

But not all of having cats in the house is fun. Yesterday I spend half the day cleaning up the spot they choose as a toilet. Apparently the litter we used wasn't to the cats liking. Our friend especially bought this type of litter for us since Jeff likes to flush it down the toilet rather than walking it to the dumpster - we paid dearly for his laziness. So instead of using their litter box the cats decided to use the area around it - which was fine since it's all tiled and Jeff was in charge cleaning it up. Since we didn't get annoyed at them for not using the box right away they moved onto carpeted areas. Well still not a big deal - it's the downstairs area where we never spent any time and its all dark, nobody will ever know. BUT eventually they moved on to areas that DID matter and they managed to hide it for at least a couple days. So I spend half day yesterday to clean up the mess - the whole house smelled like .... OH, I was mad yesterday and they knew although I never shouted at them or anything. They gave us extra attention that night and were being extra nice. At least no treats for them last night. Although this morning, I soften up already - darn cats are just too cute.

Anyways since then we changed the litter to the "walk to the garbage"-type and it seems to work (hopefully). Or maybe it is the awfully flowery smell of the air freshener I now sprayed over all the off limit areas that makes them go where they are supposed to.
